There's something about pairing ethereal female vocals with spaced out, electronic beats and highly textured production that speaks to me. I blame the fact that I listened to the Garden State
soundtrack a million times over the years and fell head over heels in love with "Let Go" by Frou Frou. And speaking of Imogen Heap, the track "Where Do You Go" from alt-electronic pop artist Xoe Wise
(of Kinky Love) -- which we're premiering today -- is cut from that simultaneously beautiful and distorted mold.
The track churns forward with an almost industrial intensity but instead of packaging the dark and foreboding tension at the heart of the track in a confrontational manner, Xoe fashions a song of deceptive beauty and power. Even featuring elements of James Blake-esque minimalist dubstep, "Where Do You Go" is a dance hall track for your bedroom.
"Where Do You Go" will be featured on Wise's forthcoming Racecar Orgasm: Foreplay
EP which will be available on iTunes & Spotify on May 12th.
