The UK's most promising doom-psychedelia rock trio is quickly making a name for themselves. Thanks to the Rolling Stones and their angsty rock anthem "Paint It Black", we already knew that brooding and poetically tortured lyrics paired with grungy rock instrumentals and throaty vocals is a winning combo and an edgy deviation from the norm. If any combination of the above sounds like your cup of tea, than you most definitely need to acquaint yourself with The Wytches
. Originally founded in Peterborough, England these guys are what post-punk dreams are made of. Having signed with Partisoan Records
and announced an upcoming tour with Cloud Nothings and METZ, we thought that it was time to have a little chit-chat with Wytches...
Going on tour with Cloud Nothings, this package showcases two young hungry bands looking to make an impact on audiences. What are your expectations as you embark across the US with Cloud Nothings?
We haven't really any expectations other than to play as we do anywhere else and hope it translates. I expect Cloud Nothings and METZ will both blow us away though.
The video for "Robe of Juda," looks like it was fun to make. How did the video come about? Who came up with the idea of using nuns, witches, fake horn sections, and choreographed dancing?
Kristian came up with an idea of a really bad school play and having a parent filming it. We just went to the joke shop and bought random items and gave everyone a role. It was fun.

Wytches has been releasing singles and EPs for a few years now. What was it like making the transition into writing music for a full-length album?
A lot of the songs on the EPs and B-sides are featured on the album. We have a different vision for our future releases so we just wanted to document what has been going on the last couple years in to our first album. For it is our first album.
Songs throughout your catalog have a raw element where the production maintains the live essence of a band jamming in the garage...
We are very aware that our sound could come across as undeveloped. They were all originally recorded live in a garage so I guess we have achieved something there. This isn't a permanent statement for us. It's just what came out in the first few months of our development.
