The Strokes, just coming off of their Coachella performance last weekend, were on TV again last night, only this time it was 4/20, so no one questioned Julian's shades and meandering stage wanderings. The band performed "Games" on Conan in a shroud of green lights and lasers that also (whether knowingly or not) followed the theme of the "holiday." I have an enormous penchant for themes, really.
This mellower, more chilled-out performance from Angles surprisingly showed a little less bored Julian Casablancas in some super snazzy lime green sneakers and showcased an enthusiastic Albert Hammond Jr. banging away on his KORG. The subdued but awesome performance was capped off with a bow and a wholehearted "love you" from Julian to Conan. Come to think of it, the green stuff does make you love everybody... That settles it, everyone loves a theme — it's not just me.
