is a beautiful soul with a raw, mesmerizing voice; reminiscent of a young Gwen Stefani, Alison Sudol (A Fine Frenzy), Adele, and the softer side of Florence + the Machine. She effortlessly displayed her vocal range while playing the keys along side a full band at The Living Room the other night (Thursday, April 7th) for SiriusXM Radio's "From the Living Room to the Loft" series. The packed house was completely captivated by Emily's exceptional lyrics, so personal that it felt as if we were privy to reading her diary. Emily truly let the audience into her world and took us all for a little ride, striking different emotional chords with every tune she played.
Emily's self-released album Is This What You Had In Mind
is filled with soul-baring lyrics delivered from a sweet but powerful voice and backed by soft, folky-pop and rock sounds. She performed songs from her EP and also a few really new ones and some older ones including "We Are Beautiful," an edgier, more passionate song that ingeniously shows her unremarkable range and makes you feel like you're back in middle school rocking out "Tragic Kingdom." Emily Greene delivers an honest performance that truly makes you believe you just experienced the words she expresses. And let's be honest, any artist that closes out their set with an a cappella version of "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes" fully has my vote. Hipster Disney would totes agree.
[Ed. Note: Im going to let that totes slide this time.
