The magic of airplanes/steampunk societies/bombs/armies/destruction of the Hindenburg may not be the most apt visuals for all of the brooding Dinosaur Bones catalog, but there are only a handfull of songs floating around out there, so who knows? It certainly fits here. "Ice Hotels" is one of them, and the video pairs the tranquility turned explosion of the song with imagery of man's attempts at flight/epic destructions of/with technology. It is pretty "epique", as they (maybe) say. When the dust settles, we're left wondering where (and when) the Ice Hotel is exactly, and if we can check out anytime we like (but never leave).
Ben Fox (vocals/guitar) left his undergrad studies in Montreal to make this band happen; a bold and respectable move. A year and change later, his collection of bandmates collaborated with producer Jon Drew (Tokyo Police Club, Fucked Up) for their debut full-length, set to drop sometime later this year. They're hot off the tour trek (including a stop at SXSW), but them being Canadian (Toronto), we can expect that they'll be headed south again sometime soon (or at least playing locally). Their 7" is available now for those who can't wait (like us). -joe
