The Daft Punk All Out Funk Out

Good news guys: the Daft Punk pre-album blitz is in full swing and there is no indication that it will be slowing down as the release date for Random Access Memories crawls near. From the look of things, it seems like the French house Gods are pleased with our patience as they have finally rewarded us with a whole new song, titled 'Get Lucky'. This is the track that they teased in the SNL trailer a while back and the final product is even slicker than we could have ever hoped for. Pharrell is featured alongside Nile Rogers, and to the surprise of many, the track makes hardly any use of the vocoder. Instead the vocals are shiny and clear, a move that the song is clearly better for. Funky and clean guitar lines are reminiscent of classic 70s disco sparkle. Also don't forget about that sexy bass line that is treated with a perfect dose of finesse. Considering the texture of sound it contains, such as live drums, it's nothing short of a miracle that this actually feels like a Daft Punk song. The only evidence of such in "Get Lucky" is the beautifully layered and sparse production that couldn't have been managed by anyone else. Oh. And that robo breakdown at the end too.

Random Access Memories is to be released on 5/21 through their Columbia Records imprint, Daft Life Limited.
