Having a bad day? Instead of taking out on those you love, why don't you try popping in
The Peekers' debut LP,
Life in the Air, sit back and let the sweet tunes melt away your frustrations. The band is comprised of
Brittney Maddox,
John Martin, and
Michael Stephens who are the primary songwriters, while
Jordan West,
Aubre Bauer, and
Jeremy Hayes fill in all the gaps. Their music has all the whimsy of The Marshmallow Coast and of Montreal in their
Gay Parade days but shifts effortlessly into something a little more serious at a moments notice. The quilt print on the inside of their CD jacket is a good metaphor for a band that uses many different musical patterns, sewing them all together to create something that may seem a little odd at first, but once you immerse yourself in you feel nothing but warmth.
The Peekers have a few dates left on their tour in April, in which they will be sharing the stage with the likes of Dr. Dog and Girl Talk. If you can make it out to any of these shows, I strongly recommend it after hearing about their amazing performance at SXSW. -
