Several weeks ago saw us hanging out with acoustic artist Vance Joy
in the recording studio, soaking up his chill vibes and catching up on the upcoming release of his album Nation of Two
which has since dropped. Vance talked with us about the songwriting process and his explorations of creating music that feels new and different, treating us all the while to that Aussie accent and super sweet smile. "It's kind of a mystery how songs arrive and when they're gonna come and tap you on the shoulder," he says of the process.
Nation of Two
is Vance's second album after his wildly successful debut LP Dream Your Life Away
with the radio-hit singles "Riptide" and "Mess is Mine". Since then he's been continuously touring, writing music, and meeting up with different producers to experiment in creating songs that push his limits. The lead singles "We're Going Home" and "Saturday Sun" have 15 million and 12 million Spotify streams respectively, to say nothing of the rest of the album's success.
Tune into this interview above out now to hear some in-depth discussion with one of today's biggest indie folk artists.
