The twenty-year-old singer seems to have quite a following as she performed for a decent sized crowd, which knew most of the words to songs like "Lottery" and "Cathedral." If there were any audience members who hadn't heard of her until that moment, she made sure to win them over with her cute banter. A couple of ladies behind me couldn't help but yell out: "How cute are you!?" and "OMG you're my new favorite!" Bird heard them and responded with, "New York, you're the best crowd!" as she laughed.
Bird's ability to blend alternative folk, pop, and country is what seems to make her so appealing to any kind of music lover. Her undeniable charm, impressive voice, and exceptional songwriting skills made her set a truly enjoyable one. You were left feeling like you had just made a new friend who was destined for the spotlight. She recently won the 2018 Grulke Prize for developing non-U.S. act at SXSW. She is set to perform in New York again at the Americana Music Association's tribute concert at Music Hall of Williamsburg on May 9.
