The National Have a Documentary, and It Looks Great (Of Course)

In all honesty, if my older brother was Matt Berninger of The National, I'd most likely find indie music to be pretentious bullshit and really love Iron Maiden. Mistaken For Strangers, which follows the band on their epic 2010 High Violet tour, was an accidental home video-turned-emotional documentary made by the younger Berninger, Tom.

    The synopsis:

In 2010, The National embarked on the biggest tour of their career. After ten years as a band, and five critically acclaimed albums, they were finally enjoying wider recognition. Lead singer Matt Berninger invited his younger brother, Tom, to join the tour's crew. A budding horror filmmaker, Tom - who is nine years younger than Matt and listens exclusively to heavy metal - decided to bring his camera along. Tom's at sea in the world of indie rock, and living in his brother's shadow brings out the younger sibling in him - he drinks, complains, and struggles to balance his ambition with his tour responsibilities. A cinematic juxtaposition that locks comedy and stoicism together on a tour bus, Mistaken for Strangers delivers an entertaining story of family, music and artistic aspiration.

    I have two questions:

    1) Is it just me, or does this read like a Duplass brothers screenplay?
    2) This actually is not a question at all: I want to party with Tom Berninger.

The National's latest album The Trouble Will Find Me is due to release May 21st via 4AD. Listen to the album's first two singles "Don't Swallow the Cap" and "Demons".
