Putting Nicki Minaj On Your Pop Song Doesn't Make It Better

DNCE, the pop band led by Joe Jonas, released their self-titled LP last year and it's full of sugary dance-pop songs that'll probably get stuck in your head forever. The group just released a new single, "Kissing Strangers" and it randomly features Nicki Minaj.

I suppose it isn't that random. Nicki Minaj has teamed up with a Jonas brother before. Her and Nick Jonas collaborated on "Bom Bidi Bom" for the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack - which is even more random. But throwing Nicki Minaj on a catchy, Kidz Bop-worthy song isn't going to give you street cred, guys.

Let's be honest, the majority of their fan base HAS to be 18 or younger. I say this because they were nominated for Best New Artist at the 2016 Kid's Choice awards and for Best Song To Lip Sync To (um, what?) and Best Anthem for the 2016 Radio Disney Music Awards. So, when you have so many young ears listening, it might not be the best move to put Nicki Minaj on your pop song. I mean, her first line in the song is "I have this boy that I kind of like / it's a kiss kiss, tongue-him-down kind of night." Oops, sorry kids.

Joe Jonas might have thought putting Nicki Minaj on "Kissing Strangers" would gain some respect from the big kids. But you'll always be a Disney star in our hearts, Joe.
