In honor of the late Chi Cheng, Deftones shared an unreleased track "Smile" featuring their former bassist to commemorate the one-year anniversary of his passing. Recorded as part of the unreleased LP Eros, vocalist Chino Moreno tweeted his grievances about Cheng and attached a YouTube link featuring "Smile."

For Deftones fans, Eros maintains a cult-like status as curiosity plagues longtime listeners waiting to hear the last notes Cheng ever recorded. The album itself never saw the light of day as the band shelved it indefinitely after a traffic car accident left Cheng in a semi-conscious state in 2008. With the blessing of Cheng's family, Deftones recruited bassist Sergio Vega and released two critically acclaimed albums Diamond Eyes and Koi No Yokan.

Recently, Moreno expressed a greater desire to release Eros. He told Yahoo, "Lately, I've been listening to some of it and it's definitely hard to listen to some of it because its the last thing Chi's played on and it's a very emotional thing but there's really beautiful things on that record. Honestly, I feel more positive now that it will see the light of day than I did in the past so we'll see what happens."
