When you listen to Enter to Exit
, the sophomore album from Brooklyn psych-rockers the Highway
which we're premiering today, you're going to want to connect the sound dots. Classic psychedelic bands will pop up in your mind. Modern garage rock revivalist bands will peek in to say hello. You might even catch a whiff of a little post-punk here & there. That's the wrong way to approach the record.
The Highway make me want to drop all of my other work plans for the day, find a relaxing spot to lay down, gather up some...mood enhancers, and listen to this LP til I tune in and turn on. Psych-rock holds a special place in my heart -- I'm wearing a Grateful Dead shirt as I type these very words -- and Enter to Exit
is turning out to be one of the first great psych-rock records of the year.
Be sure to pick up the album when it drops tomorrow and to catch the band at their album release show at Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2 this Thursday, April 16th.
