Weezer's Rivers Cuomo
recently met with pop-punk's reigning leaders of the moment, All Time Low
, to work on some material for their forthcoming album Dirty Work
. The collaboration's end result is the LP's first single, entitled "I Feel Like Dancing", which is a catchy, riff driven number that takes more than a few stabs at some of today's class acts. You know, like Ke$ha.
Lead singer Alex Gaskarth has refered to it as the most tounge-in-cheek song from Dirty Work
, and though this attitude is similar to the quip-filled previous album Nothing Personal
, the sound finds itself in a new territory for the band. "I Feel Like Dancing" has a distinct funk mix otherwise unknown to All Time Low, explores vocal effects, and even hints at Rivers' presence in a Weezer-like guitar melody throughout the chorus. Whether this expanded sound reflects the direction of the new album or is the influence of the co-writing session with Cuomo, it is an interesting take for the band who has been driven to success by perfecting pop-punk anthems for this generation of high school hooligans.
Amongst all of the change, it is clear within the new track that the band still maintains their ability to create music that is impossible to resist moving to at least a little bit. All Time Low's new single "I Feel Like Dancing" is available now on iTunes, and you can check out the song below.
