Woodkid and Grizzly Bear's Ed Droste Will Make You Cry Big, Beautiful Tears

Do you ever feel like sometimes, the best thing you can do for your emotional well-being is a good cry? Not like a "sad" cry per se, but more like a cathartic cry, something so happy or wonderful that you're moved to tears, releasing any pent-up negative vibes in the process. It's like those videos of soldiers coming home to their devoted and loving dogs or incredibly elaborate marriage proposals; those are some things guaranteed to get the water-works flowing out of sheer, unfettered happiness. On a personal note, I recently listened to Father John Misty's new album on repeat, and now I feel horrible about all aspects of humanity (solid album, though). Lord knows I'm in need of a good happy-cry.

Luckily, in comes Woodkid and Ed Droste of Grizzly Bear, accompanied by an orchestra and choir, to provide us all with the beautiful, bittersweet new song "Go," performed at the 2016 Montreux Jazz Festival. Those with delicate emotional states, be warned: The song might actually bring you to tears out of overwhelming, sonic joy. It's a slow burn of a track whose full orchestration brings it to cinematic levels of dramatic finesse, which only helps Droste and Woodkid's soaring vocals tug even harder at your heartstrings. Add on the fact that the stage looks like the most popular concert hall in the part of Heaven where all the hipsters hang out, and what you have is a stunning, damn-near celestial performance that will make you shed a drop or two. "Go" just might be the emotional release we all need right now, so check out the performance right here.
