Minnesota-based rapper P.O.S
has dropped a new video for "Faded," a bass-heavy track off his recent album Chill, dummy
. The track features guest vocals by both Justin Vernon of Bon Iver
and Lady Midnight, but they're nowhere to be seen in the video, as director James Gunderson instead chooses to focus on P.O.S as he takes a contemplative walk through the woods. The scaled-back video is honestly for the best, because all of your attention should be going to Stefan Alexander's captivating lyrics and flawless, old school flow. Since 2012, the underground hip-hop figure and Doomtree member had been battling health problems related to kidney failure, and Chill, dummy
is his first solo record since his kidney transplant surgery back in 2014. In other words, P.O.S has dealt with a lot to be where he is today, and his always-introspective lyrics show he's picking up right where he left off. The video's secluded feel only elevates the song's message of trying to look to others for help and affection, even when you're not sure how long they'll stick around.
