A few months back we were introduced to female rapper Lizzo
with her raucous "Batches and Cookies" music video, and the Minneapolis-based, erratic artist has recently returned to our radar with its visual follow-up for "Faded". Both songs were featured on her 2013 debut LP LIZZOBANGERS
, an album produced by Lazerbeak and Ryan Olson (Gayngs), and one that remains near the top of my car's CD stack to this day (yes, I still listen to CDs).
In the song of the hour, Lizzo embraces an agile flow comparable to her Twin Cities cohort P.O.S. — a quality that's illustrated brilliantly in the volatile new video. And quick click-aways beware: The closing quarter of "Faded" features a deviously dancing sexpot named Har Mar Superstar
who seduces Macaulay Culkin with his carnal writhe.
You can catch Lizzo next week at SXSW and on her current tour with Marijuana Deathsquads (DATES
). And you too can have a copy of LIZZOBANGERS
in your car. Get it here
