We all know SXSW to be a primo destination to scope out the best and brightest up and comers in independent rock. But what if you’re a hip hopper at heart? Options certainly run a tad more limited. No worries though. Here at Baeble, we got your back…or at least two of indie hip hop’s biggest names do.

Slated for Wednesday March 12th, the Stones Throw and Duck Down Soundclash will probably be the place to be if you got hip hop slated for the agenda. Detroit Michigan’s Guilty Simpson will be there. So to will street smart rapper Sean Price. Tag Buckshot, Bronx based legend Percee P, and a variety of guest DJs, and something (I’m not sure what it is exactly) tells me this is going to be one mean party. The Stones Throw X Duck Down Soundclash throws down from 9PM to 1AM at Habana Annex

Say you’re slightly nuts though, and you miss Stones Throw because…oh, I don’t know…SXSW tends to throw twenty different events at you all at once. Or maybe, god forbid, one night of hip hop just don’t cut it. It happens…Enter our friends over at Definitive Jux. Like a good label should, Def Jux will amass some rather big names for a showcase of their very own. Setting up shop at Scoot Inn, Def Jux CEO El-P will take the stage, bringing premier names from his roster along with him. Del the (larger than life) Funky Homosapien, grime king Dizzee Rascal, Texas’ own Devin the Dude. All are slated to perform Thursday March 13th. - David Pitz
