With the Game of Thrones Season 4 premiere quickly approaching, it pleasures me greatly to announce that the trolling has officially begun. Nowadays it would seem that having a wildly successful, award-winning show on HBO that garners million of viewers just isn't gonna cut it. Apparently HBO feels there aren't enough African-Americans and Latinos tuning in to Westeros as they would like. The obvious solution to get the minorities riled up is to toss them a bone...or rather a 10-track hip-hop mixtape inspired by themes in the show. Riiight...You really think weaving in some mediocre rap music, which in the context of the show is BEYOND irrelevant will bring all the home slices with HBO subscriptions out of the woodwork? Rather than assuming the majority of minorities with HBO subscriptions will only gain interest in a quality show if you bastardize an already satisfying soundtrack; have some artistic integrity, or any integrity for that matter. Or at the very least try and be a little more subtle. It wouldn't hurt to throw in a couple racially ambiguous wenches...or perhaps a black night watchman?

Lucky for us Big Boi was kind enough to release his contribution to the mix-tape titled "Mother of Dragons". Big Boi...if you're going to take the time to write a song, it might be a good idea to come up with a hook that's slightly more creative than "Dungeons, dragons, kings, and queens." Only to be followed by the revelatory: "Fuck the Lannisters and ery' body ride with em'."

It would seem however, that nothing, not even "Mother of Dragons" could beat Wale's disaster of a song "King Slayer". I'm all for sampling when it's appropriate but sketchily rapping over the Game of Thrones theme song out of rhythm takes the mediocrity of this whole "project" to infinitely new heights. But who knows what other weird and racist manipulation ploys HBO has up their sleeves...perhaps after Khaleesi retakes the thrown, she'll throw a fiesta, pinatas and all. But hey...the full mix-tape titled Catch the Throne is due out Friday and will also feature Common, Wale, Daddy Yankee, and more. So if you're under the influence of an illegal substance and you're a minority I'm sure you'll want to check it out.
