SXSW Band Of The Day: Honeyhoney

Honeyhoney makes music at the intersection of a lot of american genres: Folk, Country Rock, Blues, and the list goes on. The duo-- Suzanne Santo and Ben Jaffe --brings these vintage styles alive with earnest energy, recalling the styles of Pasty Cline and Hank Williams at times. Santo's voice is steady and crooning as she sings stories about heartache and small town judgement, just like any great country singer. Jaffe's multi-instrument talent lends itself to unique arrangements, reminiscent of the early days of Wilco. Honeyhoney looks to be shaping up to have a great 2012-- they'll be with us next week at South By Southwest, then moving onto Coachella and Sasquatch before landing at the iconic Newport Folk Festival in July. Check out tour dates and a track from their newest album Billy Jack, "Turn That Finger Around."
