Actress and musician Lola Kirke recently came out with "Monster," a song laced with retro nuances and melancholic vocals. "I'm not a monster, just someone who wants to be loved," she sings over a landscape of ringing electric guitars. The track as a whole paints such a vivid image -- it sounds like something that would play as the sun sets on a summer night in the desert. She told Rolling Stone, "I wrote 'Monster' while I was watching someone I love struggle with self love and care, but in the process of writing it, I realized that I hadn't exactly mastered the delicate balance of those things either. So instead of the message being like 'I can help you 'cause I know what you should do,' it became 'I'm not sure I can't help you but I'm like you too.'"

The song's accompanying video was shot in Tokyo and directed by Liz Koe. She's also supporting Middle Kids on tour in June, see dates below.
