Despite Lindsay Lohan's awkward teleprompter awkwardness, this episode was worth suffering through simply for Jack White, who still dazzles with his soulful versatility, even after all these years/projects. He played two songs, the folk-leaning "Love Interruption" and the harder, more electrified "Sixteen Saltines" (definitely in a much more White-ish mode). All aboard the Blunderbuss
! Let's watch, along with some of the (few) tolerable sketches.
Let's start off on the right foot: Bill Heder as James Carville on Weekend Update. Never looking at watermelons the same way.
We finally got another musical digital short this week. Unfortunately it feels like it was written by my 10th-grade English class. On crack. Andy Samberg is really abusing those free nights and weekends.
A local radio station sketch with a lot of potential just kind of fell flat, despite how hard Taran and Bobby were selling it. LOHANNNNNNNNNN!
"Sixteen Saltines" was/is the best. Pure White madness with a rough riff and an everyone-go-crazy breakdown.
Next week: Jonah Hill and The Shins, insert over-hyped joke.
