Death Cab for Cutie's seventh studio album, Codes and Keys, is set to release May 31, a perfect seasonal setting as their albums are best experienced through the speakers of an open-windowed sedan. Their most recent album was Narrow Stairs in 2008, and the Death Cab-faithful are eager to explore the past three years of Ben Gibbard's melancholic mind.
The debut single of Codes and Keys, which is the album's title track, was ripped from Gibbard's heavily-gossiped performance at San Francisco Noise Pop Festival. The band mentioned that the album would be their least "guitar-centric" creation to date. The stream of "Codes and Keys" justifies this claim, as it is a simple, beautiful duet of Gibbard and his piano.
