Today, Sara Bareilles makes her Broadway debut in The Waitress, where she plays Jenna, a dream-filled waitress, who's really good at making pies and is stuck in a bad marriage with a baby on the way.

Sara Bareilles composed the music and lyrics for The Waitress but when Jessie Mueller, the original lead for the role of Jenna, announced she would be leaving the Broadway musical, it was a "no-brainer" to replace Mueller with Bareilles, according the founder of the casting office. And you could say she's a little excited with this Tweet she sent out this morning...

Not only did Bareilles spend her childhood performing on stage at the community theatre, doing musicals like Little Shop Of Horrors and The Mystery of Edwin Drood, but she also watched her mother and sister star in several productions. And today, Bareilles will step on out on stage as the composer and lead role of Jenna in The Waitress. Sara Bareilles is scheduled to play the role of Jenna until June 11.

And make sure you check out our interview with Sara Bareilles below.
