There have been plenty of great records so far this year (Kendrick, Bowie, Chairlift to name a few), but the two records that I've listened to most this year were from 2014 and 2015. I haven't stopped playing Chris Stapleton's Traveller since the Grammy's, and Catfish & the Bottlemen's The Balcony hasn't left my record rotation all year. The latter, the band's 2014 debut, is a perfect collection of Strokes-esque, angular guitar riffs and youthful rock defiance, and we finally have a release date and title of the band's highly awaited follow-up.

Catfish & the Bottlemen will be releasing their sophomore record, The Ride, on May 27th through Capitol Records. The band has released a second video for the album's lead single, "Soundcheck." The video is a pretty basic affair, the band performing the song in an empty room, but when you have as much natural charisma as Van McCann, you don't need to be much more complicated than that.

Watch our classic session with the band below.
