Ariel Pink is one of those artists whose music I hate that I love... mostly cause he's a misogynistic prick. He's one of those worst types of hipsters that thinks ironic misogyny -- or with others, ironic racism/homophobia/transphobia -- is alright because it's ironic. Jesus... Sadly, there are also few people working in music today with a better ear for hooks than Ariel Pink so we put up with him.
Ariel Pink had a featured guest spot on the new record from French synth-wave act Soko, and Pitchfork just premiered the music video for "Lovetrap," the track featuring the frustratingly killer Ariel Pink guest spot. Soko plays both herself and Ariel Pink in the video, and she lampoons all of the stereotypical pretentious bullshit that we've come to expect from Ariel Pink. The song and video are both way better than they have any right to be. Maybe Ariel Pink has a sense of humor about himself after all.
