Indie rock trio FOXTRAX
recently released their debut EP The Cabin
and are about to head out on tour with Barns Courtney
. As the Long Island natives start to build some buzz and after listening to the very guitar-driven, anthemic EP, we decided to chat with lead singer Ben Schneid about his favorite piece of gear.
"My favorite piece of gear is definitely my Fender Stratocaster. Her name is Shelia and dang, she really purrs," Schneid told Baeble. "I got her as a gift from my cousin for my Bar Mitzvah when I was 13 years old. I've always had a love affair with strats since I started playing guitar because all my heroes played strats. Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray, John Mayer, Buddy Guy, the list just goes on forever. Once I got my very own strat I got really serious about playing guitar. Everyday I'd be tinkering on my off orange colored American Standard. Through the years of playing Ive dropped her, smashed her and even spanked her off cymbals during live shows (I get a little crazy!). Despite all of that, my sweet little thing just stayed in tune the whole time. Here is a pic of me and my baby dancing on the kick drum at the troubadour in LA!"
"I have a few other great guitars and I am sure over the course of my career I will acquire quite a few more, but I don't think any guitar could I ever replace the love I have for Shelia. She's just a sex panther. She plays the real blues, the kind you can't fake. She has the scars and the stories to go with them. Well, except for one at least. She has a mighty deep gash on her belly! This one I'm not really sure about, but it gives her some real character. Here are some more pics for all the fine folks out there! Enjoy!"
