Every March millions of music fans trek down to Austin, Texas to discover their new favorite bands while up-and-coming acts slave through countless 30-minute sets hoping to catch the eyes and ears of labels and listeners. This year some great new acts grabbed our attention down at SXSW, and here are the five who we expect will have the most successful careers ahead of them.
1. Coldplay - London
If you like U2, easy to understand Radiohead, bright lights, and intermittent tear-jerking piano ballads you'll love Gwyneth Paltrow's husband's band.
2. Lady Gaga - New York
The generation of sexual deviants obsessed with John Waters' turd-tonguing theatrics will go ape-shit for this broad who performs while another babe pulls the trigger and vomits in her hair. And who wouldn't love a pop star who claims to hate pop, but willingly accepts her pop star paycheck?
3. Kanye West & Jay Z - ???
No one is entirely certain where this duo, who are now being referred to as the JK Boiz, came from, but darnit, could these two hip-hop.
4. Imagine Dragons - Las Vegas
Just kidding...these guys will be a figment of our imaginations come next year.
5. Keith Urban - South Pacific Immigrant
Country music fans don't take too kindly to outsiders, but we expect all the cowboys (and especially the cowgirls) to welcome this reality TV star from Australia over the border with open arms.
