TV on the Radio's Tunde Adebimpe Breathes New Life Into A 70s Pop Classic

When I was a kid, my dad had an album called AM Gold. I imagine there were a lot of compilation CDs with that title, but the one we specifically had was shockingly formative in regards to my taste in music, and easily my favorite track on the album was "Brandy" by Looking Glass. The 1972 single is just vintage Jersey Shore pop perfection, and it was covered by TV on the Radio's Tunde Adebimpe for HBO's Vinyl.

I haven't watched a single episode of Vinyl (cause the reviews for it have been brutal), but if they're getting covers this good on the program, I may need to give it a shot. I would have never guessed that Tunde Adebimpe, most famous for howling his way through tracks like "Wolf Like Me" and "DLZ," could tackle a song that requires a crooner's touch, but he more than delivers here. It's not better than the original (listen to that below cause it's legitimately one of the best pop songs of the 70s), but Adebimpe does it justice.
