Last year, we met up with pop star Anne-Marie
and supergroup Clean Bandit
at Atlantic Records. The two had released their single "Rockabye," also featuring Sean Paul, so we sat down with each artist one-on-one to talk about it. Around the same time, Anne-Marie was one of Spotify's biggest breakout artists, her song "Alarm" was platinum-certified, and she was the most nominated artist at the BRIT Awards - and she didn't even have a debut album under her belt. It was no doubt that Anne-Marie had been faced with some major success early on in her career and we talked all about it. "It feels pretty good actually," Anne-Marie laughed.
In addition to her success, we also talked about her collaboration with Clean Bandit. "It always depends on the song. I don't think I'd work with anyone unless I really believed in the song and this song really spoke to me," she said about "Rockabye," the song that earned over 700 million streams on Spotify and peaked at No. 4 on Billboard's Top 40 chart. She also talked about her two own singles, "Ciao Adios" and "Alarm," which were written about the same guy who broke her heart. "It was horrible but thanks [to him] 'cause I was able to write a couple of songs out of it," Anne-Marie started saying seriously and then ended in a chuckle.
