New musicians emerging from the bearings of New York City is nothing new. But every now and then, we have acts that truly catch our eye: artists that we can see taking things to a fun and interesting new level. ASTR, an electro-pop and dance duo with edgy and somehow-familiar vocals, are one of those acts.

The vocals of this act are feminine, sensual and easy to pair with the well-executed tracks in which the voice sheets itself over. Zoe Annas voice recalls a pop-enhanced version of Banks, and the overall vocal style is undeniably similar. Nonetheless, her voice can hold its own, and may soon be a trademark for other artists.

ASTR have a famous cover of of Drake's "Hold On We're Going Home" and tackling a Drake classic was a big risk that has done great things for this act. But along with their influences in the more mainstream genres, ASTR has collaborated with many influences in the electronic music world. On other tracks, ASTR teams up with Hoodboi and later, Chainsmokers.

Although crucial to the act, we cannot give all the talk to Zoe and her stunning vocals. Mixer and keyboard guru, Adam Pallin really knows how to lay down effortless, melodic and enjoyable tracks. The pair will be featured at our South by Southwest showcase (you can find the rest of the lineup here), and I recommend keeping an eye on these two for the foreseeable future.
