Allen Stone's latest track, "The Weekend," is a change of pace from the intense looks Stone often takes at some of the most problematic parts of life."The Weekend" reflects a sort of unhinged moment of fun on the deluxe edition of Radius that will be released with many new tracks. Stone pulls off the whole "loosening up" thing he's doing in the song, with instrumentation that's super upbeat and shows a much more dynamic and energetic side to vibrant take on older soul music.
The beat recalls Pharrell William's "Happy," but the orchestral elements of the song are layered and much more bluesy. There's a real depth to this song and a fun bridge which is a nice little break from the party-inducing chorus. It's actually quite nice to hear Allen Stone make a fun song, and simply enjoy himself after his lengthy collection of very serious looks at reality in previous tracks. And with "The Weekend," he lets us all know he can pull off these kinds of tunes too.
