Last year we had Emily Warren
stop by the studio for a Writer's Block Session
to perform a couple of her songs like "Hurt By You," "Phone Down," and more. If you don't know who she is, well -- you actually do. She's the voice on that massive FRENSHIP song "Capsize," as well as a frequent Chainsmokers collaborator. She's also lent her writing chops to dozens of other pop songs from your favorite artists, like Dua Lipa and Shawn Mendes.
After a lovely acoustic performance, we had the opportunity to talk to her all about it. "They're seriously some of my best friends," she told us when asked about touring with The Chainsmokers. "Writing with them is so cool because they are super progressive in the way they think what they want to write about and obviously they have a good sense of what people like... They're the best dudes." The singer-songwriter also talked about living in New York and attending NYU for music, which bettered her as a songwriter. "You're at a huge advantage as a writer if you could explain to the producer exactly what you want fixed, so I learned a lot from that."
Tune into the interview now to watch Emily Warren spill the tea on all of her songwriting secrets.
