Is there an artist out there that's currently making stranger, more captivating music videos than St. Vincent
? You'd be hard pressed to find a collection of vids that leave the viewer feeling as uneasy...a quality that fits fairly well with St Vincent's music. In Strange Mercy
'ss "Cheerleader" Annie Clark's steady distant gaze is eerily juxtaposed against a chorus rebellion: "I don't want to be a cheerleader no more." Like "Actor Out of Work" and" Cruel", the visuals allow the song to find another deeper context. We won't ruin the surprise of what happens, but it's definitely worth watching all the way through, along with just about everything else St. Vincent does. Directed by Hiro Murai.
