IFC favorite Portlandia is quickly filling the void for surreal and absurdist humor that was left in the wake of the sudden demise of Flight of the Conchords. The last episode featured appearances by two beloved indie stars, St. Vincent's Annie Clark and Modest Mouse's Isaac Brock.

Annie Clark is featured in a sketch where Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen are in charge of designing new uniforms for the Portland Police Department (with an awesome cameo from Twin Peaks' Kyle Maclachlan). Annie Clark models a corset that looks like a police badge with a frilly skirt at the bottom. And of cousre, she looks gorgeous even though the outfit is ridiculous. Isaac Brock shows up in a later sketch where Armisen and Brownstein are furious parents at a PTA meeting for a preschool class wanting to ban certain vinyl records from the preschool class. They essentially namedrop every indie pop/rock group of the 1980s and make fun of the teacher for not knowing enough about Neu!. Isaac Brock wants to done his old LPs which include former Eddie Vedder side project Temple of the Dog, Talk Talk, and the Back to the Future Soundtrack. It's the funnier of the two sketches and should leave any music fans in stitches.
