There's nothing quite like hearing James Mercer and Danger Mouse's voices on a chilly Friday night—even if you only hear them for three songs. The duo—who are known collectively as Broken Bells
—played an intimate set at Baby's All Right for an album release party in conjunction with Tumblr in Brooklyn on Friday to celebrate After The Disco
, due out tomorrow. The set, though brief, was accompanied by a three-hour open bar and a listening party.
Broken Bells played three acoustic tracks including "Holding On For Life" and from their first record, "September." The crowd was mesmerized by Mercer's soothing voice, and there was no shortage of excitement from the crowd. The funky space theme not only resonates throughout the new record, but was a central theme of the party, which featured cocktail waitresses in space-suits and out-of-this world art.
We will say that the performance got us really amped for what's to come when the album hits airwaves tomorrow. Kudos, to you Broken Bells.
