If you haven't heard, James Blake covers are the hottest fashion this winter. Following in the footsteps of Lorde, who set loose her own "Overgrown" last week, fellow female pop star Ellie Goulding has provided a commendable cover of "Life Round Here". It seems Goulding is keeping her covers Brit-patriotic as the last gem of hers was a redux of Alt-J's "Tessellate". This version of "Life Round Here" features Angel Haze in place of Chance The Rapper, and as expected, she spits a far more aggressive interpretation of the original verse. Despite the fact that Angel's aggression seems to change the game of the cover, Goulding's ethereal vocal style still manages to keep things grounded in the typical James Blake fashion.
