The Magnetic Fields have a knack for writing funny, quick-witted songs that are also deeply embedded with sincerity. Nowhere is this more evident than in the band's newest single. Frontman Stephen Merritt pines over the female alterego as he sings in his signiture flat hum, "I'd sign away my trust fund/I'd even sell the Jag/if I could spend my misspent youth with Andrew in drag."

The video compliments the single very well, showing a more tender side of crossdressing than you may miss with Ru Paul. A man and women undress and redress as each other's genders, showing the process of transformation. The song is quick, but a lot happens in those two minutes, both musically and visually.
The Magnetic Fields' new album, Love at the Bottom of the Sea, is out on 3/6 via Merge in the US, and March 5 via Domino in the UK.
