Sorry New Jersey, Jay Z actually eclipses Bruce Springsteen as the Garden State's favorite artist. Yesterday, we posted a scientific map
illustrating every state's most played artist when measured against other states based on surveys and analysis conducted by Paul Lemere of Music Machinery.
Deep down inside, we wanted to believe Idaho loved Tegan and Sara but we knew it it was a bit fishy. Music Machinery recently released a new map determining each state's real
favorite artist. This new map excludes any comparisons with other states and just measures the most played artist based off overall listens.
Ladies and gentleman, Jay Z is the most popular artist in the country with 22 states listening to his music more than other artist. Jay Z actually controls the entire East Coast minus a few renegade states that enjoy Daft Punk, Drake, Eminem, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.
My article yesterday with its clever puns represented the most distinctive artist played in each state when compared to other states. New Jersey still listens to Bruce Springsteen more than anyone else in the country, so Jay Z didn't completely crush our "Glory Days."
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis placed in second, Drake placed in third, Daft Punk placed in fourth, Eminem in fifth, while Imagine Dragons, Lorde, and ATL-J—who's obviously Vermont's favorite—all finished with one state each. Is it bothersome to only see seven artists on the list? Let us know what you think.
