Miguel is proving that his recent single, "Waves," is quite the versatile song. We had the original that was featured on last year's Wildheart (one of our top 10 records of the year) as well as a recent remix with rapper Travis Scott, and now he's introduced a third rendition of "Waves" on the Late Late Show with James Corden, which might be the version to take the cake for us. Miguel replaced the funky sound in the Wildheart track with some rock flair, while keeping its head-bobbing tempo. Although Miguel likes to keep us guessing on which version of the psychedelic funk/soul hit will come next, we can always expect his energetic stage presence to be consistent in every performance.
As he performed his rock rendition of "Waves" on the Late Late Show, he happily jumped and twirled his way around stage for the first half of the song. Miguel was joined onstage by a herd of dancers; who, essentially, just added to the energy by jumping along with him. Miguel also does an interview segment with James Corden, where he tells a story about trying to talk to a girl at a party in high school and awkwardly dropping his drink before a word came out. You would never guess such a smooth R&B singer would be anything less than a ladies' man growing up.
