British pop sensation, Charli XCX, has been a busy lady these days. She released the track, "Vroom Vroom" from her forthcoming EP of the same name set to be released on March 25th. Not only do the track and the EP share the name, but Charli XCX announced that she is starting her own label imprint called Vroom Vroom Recordings. The 23-year-old said it's an experimental pop record label that will combine her "love for bubblegum pop with mystery and darkness." She also just announced that she will have her own show on Beats 1 called "The Candy Shop." Go big or go home, right?
On Zane Lowe's Beats 1 show yesterday, Charli XCX released a track from her 4-song EP, Vroom Vroom called "Trophy" and it strays away from her super-pop image and gives you more of a M.I.A "girl power" feel. The beat-heavy banger was produced by SOPHIE (as are the other three tracks on the EP) and has powerful energy with a dark, punishing, anthemic sound. We can only hope this new "girl boss" version of Charli XCX is here to stay.
