Calexico has shared "Falling From The Sky," featuring Ben Bridwell from Band Of Horses. The new track is off of their forthcoming album Edge Of The Sun. These guys are industry veterans, putting out consistent, quality albums for nearly 20 years. This new release joins fellow teaser track "Cumbia De Donde," together encompassing the first new material from the duo since 2012's Algiers. Needless to say, we're pumped.

In keeping with the band's tradition, both tracks are decidedly southwestern, employing vibrant percussion, spicy horn sections, and twangy guitar riffs. Of the two, "Cumbia De Donde" is the overtly latin offering. Amidst strong clave rhythms and shaker, megaphone vocals call out receiving response from spanish group-vocals and sensual trumpeting. "Falling From The Sky" is more indie-rock than anything, with the occasional latin-influenced synth pattern and horn-section tease. Driving drums and uplifting chords inspire while Ben Bridwell's shimmering vocal stylings add a layer of depth.

The album artwork reflects exactly the mood that these two songs evoke. A lonely silhouette kneels in a vast desert as the sun radiates unforgivingly: the quintessential southwestern image. Unsurprisingly, the inspiration for the project came from the band's trip to New Mexico and the experiences that they shared with locals and fellow travelers. You can expect the remaining tracks to tell beautiful stories with similarly flavored style.

Notable collaborations on the album include Sam Beam of Iron & Wine, Nick Urata of Devotchka, Carla Morrison, Gaby Moreno and Amparo Sanchez of Takim, and Neko Case.

Edge Of The Sun is out April 14th on ANTI-Records. Listen to the delectable "Falling From The Sky" and "Cumbia De Donde" below, pre-order the album here, and look out for a North American summer tour kicking off Memorial Day weekend (also listed below).
