Video Premiere: The Wooden Birds

    With the center of the musical universe suddenly shifting to Brooklyn over the last decade and other points of endless urban sprawl, are we the only ones who enjoy a chance to sit back and soak in some gorgeous pastoral simplicity? Austin, TX based band The Wooden Birds are bringing nature back to indie rock with the beautiful video for their new song, "Long Time to Lose It." With a very loosely defined narrative that seems to involve nothing more than a woman walking through hills and wooded areas as well as driving her car out into the desert at the base of the Andes Mountains, the video is just an excuse for gorgeous up-close images of plant-life because whenever the woman leaves the show, the camera catches its eye on beautiful flowers or jaw-dropping vistas. The band's unique sound should resonate for anyone wanting some simpler, cleaner rock in the face of all of the textures and layers omnipresent in the modern indie music sphere. The video was directed by Alex R. Johnson of Lachima Films.
