Why Bonnaroo Boasts the Best Lineup So Far

As summer music festivals continue to grow annually in size, count and popularity, we always seem to find something to whine about. This year, there seemed to be a homogenization of headliners—one headliner in particular—that seemed to dissolve desires to travel cross country to attend an iconic festival when the same acts are scheduled to perform at a start-up fest right down the freeway. This dissatisfaction was relieved last night Bonnaroo broke the trend by announcing its truly stellar and eclectic lineup.

Unlike its other massive festival buds Coachella and Governors Ball, Bonnaroo lacks the headlining reunion spectacle of OutKast, who are scheduled to perform at over 40 festivals throughout the summer like a traveling, hip-hop Vegas residency. Instead, they landed their old foe Kanye West, who has been loathed by the Roo community ever since he showed up eight hours late to his 2008 set, and a hopeful answer to Paul McCartney's epic 2013 set in Elton John—two top-tier acts who, at this point, are not slated to perform at any of Bonnaroo's major competitors.

We understand that picking the perfect summer festival is a very expensive dilemma, and based on our somewhat professional experience, Bonnaroo is currently looking like the best destination during your summer road trip. Honestly, where the hell else can you see Lionel Richie and Deafheaven in the same weekend?!

Bonnaroo tickets go on sale Saturday, February 22nd at noon EST.
