Canadian electro-pop purveyor LIGHTS
is back with a scintillating new video for "We Were Here". The fizzing track is taken from her fourth studio album Skin & Earth
, released back in September of last year. The visual is directed by Jeremy Schaulin-Rioux and it captures all the raucous energy of the song itself, with LIGHTS making her way through gritty streets and strange masked parties.
The album, Skin & Earth
, is a concept piece accompanied by a comic book of the same name, and it's clear that LIGHTS has drawn on components of her comic book for this new music video. The setting of the video is ostensibly contemporary, but there's something a tad futuristic lurking in the dark corners of the night. Throughout the the four minute running time, we follow LIGHTS on a journey that sees rejection culminate in fiery revenge, taking in an eerily still party full of masked guests along the way. The track itself is smooth, all claps and low-end bass with LIGHTS' tightly pop-pitched voice sitting atop the mix to great effect.
