Halsey just dropped an unexpected video for her track "Sorry", taken from last year's chart-topping album hopeless fountain kingdom. The video, credited to Halsey and director Sing J Lee, depicts the singer stumbling out of a car wreck and making her way through the scene of the crash, surrounded by fire, smoke, and multiple casualties.

Aesthetically, the video continues on from her previous release "Bad At Love" and just as Romeo & Juliet was an inspiration for the lyrical content of the album, so too is it a visual touchstone for this music video. Halsey's Hawaiian shirt conjures up images of Leonardo DiCaprio traipsing along the beach in Baz Luhrmann's 1996 Shakespearean adaptation Romeo + Juliet and her anguished performance is in keeping with the movie's tone as well. It's one of the quieter tracks from the album and the restrained nature of the music plays nicely alongside the carnage inhabiting the video.

Some fans seem disappointed with the arrival of a video for "Sorry", as many had hoped "Strangers" would be the next single. However, Halsey has called the video "a continuation of the hopeless fountain kingdom narrative and something to hold you over until my next single", which should reassure fans that they won't have to wait long for another video from the singer-songwriter.
