Making music without an agenda is when magic truly happens and so is the case for LA based band Mercies. Originally from Suffield, CT, founding members, Josh Rheault and Sammy Dent, first began collaboratively tinkering around with music as a creative outlet, which soon blossomed into something bigger than they anticipated on. After bringing on third member, Jordan Flower, Mercies was born.
The guys are currently set to release their sophomore LP, Blue Against Green , in March, and in anticipation, the guys are exclusively premiering the album's first single, "Zalea," here on Baeble.
The track, accentuated by lo-fi baselines, hollow guitars, and echoing vocals, has found Mercies a cozy musical spot nestled between the likes of Band of Horses and Fleet Foxes.
About the song Josh tells Baeble, "Zalea is a song about being restless, but finding tranquillity and inspiration in a person or place. Sometimes its a stretch of coastline, sometimes it's someone or some thing."
Take "Zalea" for a spin below. Blue Against Green is out March 31st.
