When asked what her strongest, most unshaken belief is, Carolyn Berk
, front-woman of the dreamy synth-pop outfit, Lovers, answered quite fittingly; "Love". Through all the sadness and heart-break that we hear in her music, this love she believes so strongly in is ever present, giving each one of her songs their raw emotionality. Songs like "Perpetual Motion, Perpetual Sound" and "Saint Jude" are utterly tragic, yet possess the ability to pull you in and not let go.
If like me, you have been waiting patiently for Lovers to release some new music, you are in luck my friend. The band is set to drop their fourth full length release, entitled I am the West
, on April 28th. The album is currently available for pre-order here
Recently, I had a chance to hear the album, and it's wonderful. It's chalk full of sentimentality and introspective lyrics, but with a greater emphasis on instrumentation and catchy synth. In short, it's a very sweet listen. So far, Lovers only have three tour dates set up, but expect to see some more dates cropping up soon in support of the albums release. Prepare to feel the love...
