We like music videos. We like lists. We like reminiscing. The Roundup is our way of celebrating such things. This week we bring you a fragrant potpourri of interesting audio visual tid bits; there's our girl Lissie allowing ?uestlove to sit in during her performance on Fallon, a hilarious, NBC certified video from New Pornographers, the newest single from The Rural Alberta Advantage, a Letterman appearance by The Boxer Rebellion, and finally, an old fashion NSFW music video from an artist we know you're going to start hearing a lot about over the course of the next few months.
Lissie - "When I'm Alone" - Live on Jimmy Fallon
A possible rehearsal in preparation for her European tour, Lissie, accompanied by Questlove, performed "When I'm Alone" Friday on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Her passionate vocal performance blurs all stage surroundings (took a minute to notice Quest's bad-ass bowtie). Check out Lissie on Fallon, and follow it up by watching our Guest Apartment sesh to get the full Lissie experience!
The New Pornographers - "Moves"
From their fifth full length album, Together, The New Pornographers' have debuted a music video for "Moves" starring an NBC-heavy cast portraying various characters, including every member of the band. Current and former cast members from Saturday Night Live (Horatio Sanz, Bill Hader), Community (Donald Glover), the familiar faces of Paul Rudd and Kevin Corrigan, as well as many others act out this heavily exaggerated portrayal of The New Pornographers' musical journey.
The Rural Alberta Advantage - "Stamp"
Flirting at rock shows is almost always misinterpreted, at least in this example from Rural Alberta Advantage where our protagonists don't really see eye to eye (literally). We won't ruin the ending, but let's just say this isn't subtitled Revenge Of The Nerds V: Bowery Ballroom. "Stamp" is a new tune off the band's forthcoming record, entitled Departing, out March 1st on Saddle Creek.
The Boxer Rebellion - "Step Out of the Car" - Live on David Letterman
Last week we were lucky enough to share The Guest Apartment with British up and comers The Boxer Rebellion. Turns out the boys were fresh off this high profile appearance on Letterman. The Guest Apartment will be out in a few weeks. Until then, get your fix with the clip below.
Austra - "The Beat and The Pulse"
The Beat and The Pulse" is a dense, electro potion that's right in line with what contemporaries like Glasser and Oh Land are knocking back these days. But creator Katie Stelmanis is on a darker tip...pop to be sure, but shrouding her music in a bit more Nordic mystery. It works. Austra's Domino-certified debut album will be released later this Spring. Oh yeah, and this video is totally NSFW
