Future Islands have officially announced their new album Far Field will be dropping on April 7th and it'll be the Baltimore trio's first album since 2014's Singles. Last night, they released the first taste from the upcoming album with a new wave-y, lovelorn single titled "Ran" and it gives off some serious 80s/New Order vibes.

Frontman, Samuel T Herring takes his intensity down a few notches and opts for a melodic, softer vocal tone. It's a pleading track with all feelings exposed as Herring sings "What is a song about you? When every song I write is about you / When I can't hold myself without you / And I can't change the day I met you."

A press release about the album said it will be filled with "chest-pounding" love songs "brilliantly expressing the bands central themes they've been exploring for the last decade: that there is power in emotional vulnerability, that one can find a way to laugh and cry in the same breath - and be stronger for it." The album will also feature Blondie's Debbie Harry on the track "Shadows." Everyone needs a little Future Islands music in their lives right now.
